Adelong Gold Limited (ASX: ADG) has released an encouraging update from its Lauriston Gold–Antimony Project in Victoria, as drilling at the Comet Prospect continues to validate the geological model and reinforce the project’s exploration potential.
Lauriston is located adjacent to the Fosterville Gold Mine and lies within the Fosterville Sub-Domain, one of Victoria’s most prolific high-grade gold settings. The Lauriston field has a strong production history, having produced approximately 233,000 ounces of gold at an exceptional average grade of 20.7 g/t Au, largely from shallow depths. This historic performance highlights the potential for a larger mineralised system that remains largely untested at depth by modern drilling.
Drilling confirms the target structure
In the latest program, Adelong completed six diamond drill holes at the Comet Prospect. Importantly, all six holes intersected the Comet Shear, confirming the accuracy of the Company’s structural targeting. Core logging identified strong deformation and quartz–sulphide veining associated with the shear zone, a key feature of Victorian epizonal gold systems.
The Company also reported visible gold in drill hole AC2502, observed within a strongly deformed and mineralised interval. While visual observations are not a substitute for laboratory assays, the presence of visible gold provides further encouragement that the system is capable of hosting high-grade mineralisation.
Geological setting supports high-grade analogues
Adelong has highlighted that the structural and geochemical characteristics observed at Lauriston are consistent with epizonal Au–As–Sb systems seen elsewhere in Victoria, including Fosterville, Costerfield and Sunday Creek. These systems are often characterised by strong structural control, quartz–sulphide veining and the potential for grades to strengthen at depth within favourable structural positions.
Following completion of drilling at Comet, Adelong has moved the rig to the Yankee–Trojan target, located along strike, expanding exploration across the broader Lauriston corridor. Assay results from the Comet drilling program are expected in Q1 2026, subject to laboratory turnaround times.
A high-upside Victorian gold exploration story
With its location in a proven high-grade gold district, confirmed structural intersections across all holes, and historic production demonstrating exceptional grades from shallow levels, Lauriston continues to shape up as a high-upside Victorian gold and gold–antimony exploration project.
As drilling progresses and assays are returned, the market will be watching closely to see whether Lauriston can replicate the success of its world-class neighbours.
