Maiden fieldwork at Liberty Metals’ Oko North Project in Guyana has identified coarse, angular visible gold in the artisanal workings, together with basement shearing, quartz veining and hydrothermal alteration. Angular gold does not travel far from its source. Historic mining across the district stopped at roughly 70 metres, while the neighbouring pit reaches around 640 metres and the system there is reported open past 1,000 metres. Nothing on Liberty’s ground has been tested below the workings. Fifty-five rock chip samples are with the laboratory, with results expected in four to six weeks.
